Varien have announced the launch of the Enterprise Edition of Magento Commerce. This edition will come with enhanced features geared towards larger retailers as well as a support contract and warranty.

The Community Edition is still available for free and will continue to be available and supported. Also it should be noted that Magento Commerce has an active community of contributors out there so it wouldn’t surprise me if enterprise level features appear by way of add on modules very soon.
