We spent a morning casually strolling through Flickr to look up on some of the great work that’s going on in the world of web design. Sure there was plenty of background noise to be avoided but below are five site designs that caught our eye. Enjoy.
Simplicity works.
It has a carefully chosen colour scheme, a clear layout, and only does what it needs to. We like.

Nice use of gradients,
Nice use of space, the colours work perfectly and the whole thing looks like it’s about to morph into an animation. 10 points.

Talk about a way to sell yourself.
This is the perfect combination of excellent design and shameless self promotion. Fluid is not aware why Tom talks about himself in the third person. See what we did there?

Matt Dryden isn’t sure if he likes this, but we do.
There’s definitely something missing from it though…Content maybe?

If you’re going to go colourful why not go the whole nine yards?
If you’ll forgive the artifacts in the screenshot I’m sure you’ll agree that this looks pretty good. The design didn’t last long, they’ve recently changed to go all rainbow road on us. Check it out.

So there you have it, Flickr is actually a fairly decent resource of design inspiration. If you’ve got a favourite design that we’ve missed off then leave it in a comment.
Adios.
